Apnea Total in Koh Tao, Thailand is the primary headquarters and is the first and longest-established freediving school in Southeast Asia. Apnea Total Headquarters was founded by Monica Ganame and Eusebio Saenz de Santamaria in 2003 and since then has developed and grown into a thriving freedive center with a large team of experienced instructors with multiple freediving courses running daily. To date over 6,000 students have been certified as Apnea Total freedivers in Koh Tao.

Koh Lipe forms part of the Butang archipelago, which is situated to the west of Koh Tarutao. This is a group of around 20 islands; some are large and mountainous with primary rainforest and fringed by coral reefs; some are tiny rocky islets made of diorite, similar to granite but with less quartz. The Butang archipelago has the largest tides in Thailand and currents can be strong, leading to a prosperous marine life. This is the reason why scuba diving, freediving, and snorkeling are so special in these waters.

Freedive Israel is located on the beautiful bay of the red sea. In the Syrian African crack, bordering with Sinai Egypt and Aqaba Jordan. The red sea is famous for clear water, comfortable conditions all year round, rich marine life and amazing coral diversity. We offer courses from beginner to Instructor level, training and coaching sessions in amazing dive sites between the red mountains and desert atmosphere.
When you are choosing which freediving organization suits you best for your freediving course, it is important to know there are differences in the educational philosophies of the various systems.
Most organizations use a system built on specific performance requirements that students must pass in order to feel they are “real freedivers”. The requirements include reaching specific depths, performing particular techniques, and passing a written examination. The idea behind having all these requirements is that a student taught with a standard-based system can be easily evaluated and certified by the instructor, according to physical performances and a written test.
Apnea Total believes that freediving is a highly personal sport. Therefore, the “one size fits all” approach creates limitations to students who may have better progression, experiences and overall performances using a more personalized teaching philosophy. When students know they must pass some tests to feel they have succeeded in becoming a freediver, they are in a pressured environment. These tests become the focus, rather than the pure enjoyment and relaxation of freediving. Paradoxically, having a relaxing environment and freediving just to enjoy the experience is the real key to gaining your maximum potential in a freediving course!
